The screen lit up as the trailers played. I looked at Lauren Thomas with a dopey grin. We were together for almost two years, but I always had that same smile whenever I looked at her. She glanced at me and giggled. The warm feeling in my chest bubbled at the thought of her.
There wasn’t anything I wouldn’t do for her. No one made me feel the way she did. She reached for some of the popcorn at the same time I reached for the ring in my left pocket. I fiddled with it in my fingers, debating if I should pop the question before or after the movie. A sharp pain pierced my forehead.
